Broadband Planning Project • Analyze Government Broadband Supply and Demand • Led by the Public Utilities Research Center (PURC) at UF • Participation with State , City and County Institutions • Expected Outcomes • Provide Government with an Accurate Baseline View of: • Current Government Network Capabilities, Capacities, Availability, Customers and Costs • Current Government Policies that affect them • Current and Future Broadband Demand • Scenario Plans to Optimize Government Broadband Resources

  5. Broadband Data and Mapping Service Provider Data: Availability, Technology and Speed Community Anchor Institution Data: Location, Technology, Speed Residential Technology and Adoption Data Demographic Data

  6. Broadband Data and Mapping Statewide, 81% of Florida residents own a home computer. This translates into approximately 2.7 million adults without a home computer. Statewide, 67% of all Florida adult residents subscribe to home broadband service. This translates into approximately 5.7 million adults without broadband service at home. Disparities between Rural and Urban, Age, Race, Education, Income

Establish a Broadband Programs Office: Funding Requested: $2.4M • E-Rate Support Team • Grant Support Team • 3. Local/Regional/State Broadband Planning: Funding Requested: $1M • 4. Library Technology Assessment : Funding Requested: $560,000
