History of the Land Grant College Program in Hawaii • The University of Hawaii, founded in 1907, was initially the College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts with 5 students in 1908. • The Land Grant College is now the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, one of six colleges located on the UH Manoa campus. “Centennial” – white anthurium bred by UH scientists to celebrate 100th birthday
