What Do You See? Section 4.3 “EQUIVALENT FRACTIONS”
The first of these fractions 1/5 is in SIMPLEST FORM because the numerator and denominator have no common factors. To SIMPLIFY fractions divide the numerator and denominator by common factors.
EQUIVALENT FRACTIONS- two fractions are equivalent if they represent the same quantity. = = A fraction is in SIMPLEST FORM if its numerator and denominator have a greatest common factor of 1.
EQUIVALENT FRACTIONS- multiplying the numerator and denominator of a fraction by the same nonzero number x x x = = = x x x
When simplifying fractions, look for the greatest common factor in the numerator and denominator. Then divide. Simplifying Fractions = = = =
