In A Perfect World • All existing Reports will be converted prior to implementation of Banner • All users will be trained on the Banner system • All users will have reviewed their ‘new’ Banner reports and approved of them • Everyone is happy with a smile on their face Tarleton State University
In the REAL World • Most of the reports are unknown and are not converted • Majority of new Banner users did not have time to attend the training sessions • Many of the users will not realize that ‘THEIR’ reports were affected • Happy and Smile are five letter words only… Tarleton State University
‘Missing Link’ Situation • Evaluation of New System • Meet with the Primary Users in their areas • Discuss the Positives as well as the Negatives • Determine their immediate needs • Help them to think ‘Outside of the Box’ • Assess their Training Needs • Establish ‘Priority’ within their ‘needs’ • Provide Feedback on progress to meeting their needs Tarleton State University

Tarleton’s Process • Researched ‘Business Intelligence’ • Utilized Internet Search engines • Reviewed many White Papers • Contacted other Institutions • Discussed their approach for Report Replacement • Determined the tools they were using • Visited Baylor University • for a demo of their Reporting Application • Narrowed our decision to two vendors – • SAS • WebFocus/SPSS Tarleton State University
Tarleton’s Solution • Due to extensive use and existing code in SPSS, WebFocus product selected • Contracted with IBI for: • WebFocus Dashboard product • Training • Consulting • WebFocus installed during Summer 2006 • Training began in August 2006 Tarleton State University
