The gods asked Parvati, Shiva’s consort for help. She transformed herself into the warrior goddess Kali. She ordered the gods to continue fighting while she put out her tongue and caught all the demons’ blood on her tongue, so it would not fall to the ground. This allowed the demon and his clones to be cut down and finally killed. However, after the demon was slain, Kali was drunk with blood and continued killing. No –one could stop her. Finally, the gods begged Shiva and he laid himself under her feet. When she saw her husband under her feet, Kali finally came to her senses and stopped her killing.
