  2. Origin… • Brahma originated in Hindu mythology • He was said to have been born from a lotus springing from Vishnu’s naval and created the universe with his daughter/wife, Sarasvati

  3. About Brahma’s family • Brahma is believed to be the son of god and to have a sister and a brother, both of equal power. The brother being represented by a stone phallus and the sister as blue or black shinned and with four arms. • Has a wife, sarasvati • His children are the 7 rishis (sages)

  4. God/Goddess of… • Said to be the god/goddess thing to have created the universe

  5. Brahma’s story • Brahma is the Hindu god that seems to have been born from a lotus and then created the universe with the help of his wife/daughter thing

  6. Where Brahma appears in literature • Basically the only literature Brahma is found in is Indian and Hindu religious literature

  7. Interesting stuff • Brahma is one of the main gods in hindu religion • In theology, he is the single letter (ekaaksharam) AUM, and the uncreated creator • Cosmologically, he is hiranyagarhba (golden embryo), the ball of fire, from which the universe develops
