  3. Where Our MS Students/Alumni Are Work Aerojet, Boeing, Chrysler, Intel, HP, University of Pacific (UOP), Mori Seiki, SMUD, Tokai Rika, Calsonic Kansei, Disney and many other private and government organizations. Ph.D. Programs UCD, Virginia Tech, U of Chicago, University of Pittsburg, etc.

  4. MS ME Curicullum See the ME program on-line catalog. • Required Core Courses (8 units) • Concentration Area Courses (9 units) • Electives (7-9 units) • Thesis (4-6 units) Total units required for MS ME: 30 units

  5. MS ME Curicullum • Required Core Courses (8 units) ENGR 201 Eng. Analysis I (3 units) ENGR 202 Eng. Analysis II(3 units) Note: Both ENGR 201 and ENGR 202 are offered in Fall 2014. However, neither of these courses will be offered in Spr. 2015. ME 209 Research Methodology (2 units) Note: ME 209 is our program’s GWI course. See the option B of GWAR.

  6. MS ME Curicullum B. Concentration Area Courses (9 units) • Concentration area courses must be 200 level courses. • Experimental courses ME296-# and courses from other areas could be used. These exceptions should be noted on your Advancement-to-Candidacy (ATC) Form. • ME 299 Special Problems should not be used as a concentration area course.

  7. MS ME Curicullum C. Electives (7-9 units) • Most of 200-level courses including ME 299 could be used. • Up to two undergraduate courses could be used.

  8. MS ME Curicullum D. Thesis (4-6 units): Part 1 • ATC must be approved before registering for ME 500 • Thesis Proposal Form must be approved one full semester prior to registering for ME 500. • Thesis units can be adjusted between 4 and 6 units. • For continuing thesis work after taking 6 units of ME 500, complete Continuous Enrollment form. In this case, the course number ME 599 will be assigned.

  9. MS ME Curicullum D. Thesis (4-6 units): Part 2 • Read ALL instructions for thesis provided by Office of Graduate Studies (OGS). • Submit your FINAL version of your thesis for review to your advisors at least two weeks before the OGS deadline. • A presentation of your thesis is required. • Know that your thesis is a publication. It will “build up” or “damage” your professional credentials.

  10. MS ME Curicullum Other Notes • One or more courses from other departments could be used as concentration area courses or electives. Consult with your advisors. • Exceptional cases beyond what are explained in this presentation could be (but not guaranteed to be) approved though Petition for Exception. • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 for completing the MS degree. • Up to six units of grade "C" or better may be credited toward the MS degree. All other graded units must be completed with a grade of "B" or better.

  11. Common Procedures and Paperwork • Most of procedures and paperwork are administrated by OGS. Be familiar with information at OGS Homepage. • Advancement to Candidacy (ATC) • Application for Graduation • Your ATC must be approved before applying for graduation. • If changing your graduation date, submit Graduation Date Change Form. • If you are an international student, you need 9 units/semester to be classified as a full-time student.
