Read the letter of complaint and try to identify all of the persuasive techniques which have been used.
Purpose = To Persuade! • Convince of one view • Varied techniques • Assertive • Language shows awareness of audience • A main point in each paragraph • Coherent structure
The letter of complaint... • How would you persuade the customer to calm down and perhaps settle for a free meal as compensation, rather than a ‘fat cheque’? Which techniques would you use? • Write a reply to the letter trying to persuade them to come in for a free meal. Remember you don’t want to lose their custom!
Content & Organisation • What you write about, how you communicate ideas and how you structure your writing. • Mark scheme divided into 4 bands • Band 1 = Limited 1-4 marks • Band 2 = Some 5-8 marks • Band 3 = Clarity, Success 9-12 marks • Band 4 = Convincing, Compelling 13-16 marks
