The 5 parts of a sentence! • Notice that every sentence begins with a capital letter. • End with some type of punctuation (end) mark. • Each sentence has: a subject, verb, & expresses a complete thought.
Declarative Sentences • Makes a statement • It is labeled with a D. • Ex. I walked my dog yesterday. • Flow: (period, statement, declarative sentence)
Imperative Sentence • Gives a command • It is labeled with a Imp. • Ex. Close the door • Flow: (period, command, imperative sentence)
Exclamatory Sentence • Expresses strong feelings • It is labeled with an E. • Ex. The field is on fire! • Flow: exclamation point, strong feeling (sf), exclamatory sentence.
Interrogative Sentence • Asks a question. • It is labeled with an Int. • Ex. Do you live here? • Flow: question mark, question, interrogative sentence.
