Purpose • Provide high level product information to ensure general understanding • Communicate and review changes to products and processes. These changes are a result of: • 271 Workshop commitments and agreements • New product initiatives • New products and functionality in support of Statement of Generally Accepted Terms (SGAT) language and commission orders • Answer customer questions about product and process changes
General Product Overview • Unbundled Packet Switching (UPS) offers the capability to provide high-speed data services to your customers in combination with other Unbundled Network Elements (UNEs). • This service enables customers to offer Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) to an end-user customer utilizing a Qwest remotely deployed Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM). • UPS provides the functionality of delivering packet data units via a virtual channel between your collocation demarcation point and the Remote DSLAM. Customers requiring detailed product training should contact their account team representative.
Product & Process Changes Product Description • PCAT provides customers with links to the following web sites that provide information on remote Qwest Premises and DSLAM information: • ICONN Database - Displays a list of Qwest deployed remote terminals. • Network Disclosure - Displays a list of Qwest remote terminals that contain Qwest DSLAMs. • UPS standard product offering speeds are 256K, 640K and 1M. Customers You may inquire about other speeds through the Special Request Process (SRP) contained in the SGAT.

Product & Process Changes Implementation • UPS ATM Interface Port Orders • Added language to clarify that one UPS Interface Port order can support multiple UPS customer channels. Customers should refer to the tech pub 77408 for exact numbers. • Parallel Ordering Process • UPS and Remote Terminal Collocation orders can be ordered and processed in parallel. • Customers should check the parallel processing box on the Remote Terminal Collocation application. • On the UPS LSR, customers should write in the remarks section “Parallel Processing” and include the DA number and/or location.
