What role do personal media play in constituting and re-constituting social networks? What genre conventions can be found in mediated perosnal expressions?

Converging Forms of Communication? • Continuing the work from ’Conceptualising Personal Media’Symptomatic for my increasing theoretical interest in communication models and technological development. • Research question: • Is the distinction between interpersonal and mass mediated communication still useful, or are forms of communication converging?

Converging Forms of Communication? • Media materialities and social negotiation of technology • Important as it emphasises that the Internet as an underlying media technology facilitates mass media forms as well as personal media forms. • Recognising the importance of the materiality of technology • Still acknowledging the actual implementation and interpretation of technology
