  3. I. JOHN’S INTRODUCTION

  4. A. The title that John uses. (Rev 1:9) I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

  5. II. JOHN’S LOCATION

Historically • (These are 7 literal and historical churches of Asia Minor (Turkey) in 95 AD when the book was written.) • Inspirational • (These churches represent the 7 characteristics of churches of today and the 7 strategies that Satan use to attack the church) • Doctrinally (Prophetical) • (These churches represent the 7 periods of Church history from the book of Acts to the Rapture of the Church)

  10. IV. JOHN’S FIXATION

  11. A. He is fixated on IDENTITY of Christ

  12. HIS VOICE (Rev 1:12) AND I TURNED TO SEE THE VOICE THAT SPAKE WITH ME. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;

  13. (Joh1:1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (Joh 1:14) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us… (Gen 3:8) And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

  15. (Rev 1:12-13) And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I SAW SEVEN GOLDEN CANDLESTICKS; AND IN THE MIDST OF THE SEVEN CANDLESTICKS ONE LIKE UNTO THE SON OF MAN, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

  17. (Rev 1:12-13) And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; and in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the son of man,CLOTHED WITH A GARMENT DOWN TO THE FOOT, AND GIRT ABOUT THE PAPS WITH A GOLDEN GIRDLE.

  19. 1. HIS HEAD AND HAIRS (Rev 1:14) HIS HEAD AND HIS HAIRS WERE WHITE LIKE WOOL, AS WHITE AS SNOW; and His eyes were as a flame of fire;

  20. 2. HIS EYES (Rev 1:14) His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and HIS EYES WERE AS A FLAME OF FIRE;

  21. 3. HIS FEET (Rev 1:15) AND HIS FEET LIKE UNTO FINE BRASS, AS IF THEY BURNED IN A FURNACE; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

  22. (Gen 3:15) And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. (Zec 14:4) And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

  25. 4. HIS VOICE (Rev 1:15) And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; AND HIS VOICE AS THE SOUND OF MANY WATERS.

  26. (Eze43:1-2) Afterward he brought me to the gate, even the gate that looketh toward the east:And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east: and his voice was like a noise of many waters: and the earth shined with his glory.

  28. 5. HIS HAND (Rev 1:16) AND HE HAD IN HIS RIGHT HAND SEVEN STARS: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

  29. (Rev 1:20) The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

  33. 6. HIS MOUTH (Rev 1:16) And he had in his right hand seven stars: and OUT OF HIS MOUTH WENT A SHARP TWOEDGED SWORD: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

  34. (Heb 4:12) For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

  35. (1Pe 1:23) Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

  37. 7. HIS Countenance (Rev 1:16) And he had in his right hand seven stars: and Out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and HIS COUNTENANCE WAS AS THE SUN SHINETH IN HIS STRENGTH.

  38. (Mal 4:1-2) For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

  40. V. JOHN’S ELEVATION

  41. (Eze 1:28) As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake. (Dan 8:17) So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision.

  43. VI. JOHN’S DICTATION

  44. (Rev 1:19) Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;

  45. (2Ti 2:15) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

  46. 1ST DOOR OPENS (Rev 4:1) After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.
