Then they will utilize the inquiry process to examine their world hands on. Finally they will look at organisms in order to understand reasons for changes in the structure and function of traits and how they occur over long periods of time. During our Who We Are unit, in ELA, we will have the opportunity to read a few short stories and a novel, Number the Stars. We will also begin working on strengthening our writing skills. Some of our reading skills will include inferring, setting a purpose for reading, and using context clues to gather meaning of unknown words. We will also have the opportunity to participate in the writing process from start to finish. Our stories and novels will allow us to look at traits we inherit from our parents, traits we learn, how those traits effect us, and how society values traits differently.
