The Battle • Was at the turning point of the Texas revolution. • Republic of Texas was growing. • Santa Anna marches north. • Texans didn’t know they were coming until spring. • Santa Anna arrived with 1,000 men in February 1836
The Battle Continues… • On March 6, 1836, Mexican cannon fired. • Mexican soldiers were killing all the Alamo defenders. • William Travis, Davy Crockett, and Jim Bowie died in the Alamo. • A few soldiers and servants survived to the story.

1886-1890 • In 1886 the Alamo was sold to for $28,000 • Charles Hugo • Gustav Schmeltzer • William Heuermann • Then sold the property again for $160,000 • Reagan Houston ,
1912 • The Alamo Heroes Monument Association • Intention to build a tower for the Alamo defenders • But fail to attempt to raise the two-million-dollar construction cost.
1929 • The State of Texas appropriates $250,000 for the purchase of land adjacent to the Alamo.
