  1. 2018 Year end Ambulance Service

Call for Service Data • 2018 saw 1600 call for service for the Ambulance Service, this includes visits to day cares, schools, local community events, Community Centers, and others including sporting events. 1300 of these calls were actual 911 calls • This was accomplished by 14 First Responder/EMRs 6 located in the Bruce Weyerhaeuser area-1 in the Ladysmith area –and 7 in the Sheldon area. EMTs also First Respond when not on call with the Ambulance. • 27 EMTs covering shifts 24/7/365 provided this service with between 2 and 4 rigs being in service at once, depending on staff availability. Of a possible 1344 hours per week we were able to cover 1075 of those hours currently, which means we had 2 rigs in service most times and the other two when staff was available. We currently have 10 EMTs in Ladysmith-8 in Sheldon- 5 in Hawkins and 4 in Bruce.

  3. Training • We provide many hours of free training to the schools, daycares, employees of Rusk County, and citizens of Rusk County. • We also provide required training to the FR/EMRs and EMTs, which includes a refresher every two years and quarterly training in conjunction with Marshfield Medical Center Ladysmith. The Squads also hold their own trainings on subjects they feel are in need of review. • The trainings provided to the public include CPR/AED, First Aid, Stop the Bleed, and any others that may be requested by a local group.

  4. 2019 • It appears here at about the end of the first quarter of 2019 that our call volume will stay about the same level as 2018. • We intend to make a push for more staff as soon as the decision is made what direction the Ambulance Service will go. • If anyone knows of someone who is interested in taking the class to become a responder, please have them call Tom Hall at 715-532-2121 so we can see what assistance we can offer with class costs. • Thomas Hall/Director Rusk County Ambulance
