  3. The International Baccalaureate Program is a curriculum of rigorous accelerated academic challenges. IB divides the curriculum into two parts. The Middle Years Program – 9th and 10th grade The Diploma Program – 11th and 12th

  4. In 1982 Chandler High School became the 1st school in Arizona to become an authorized IB Diploma school. In 2013 we became fully authorized offering IB for grades 9-12. Chandler High School is only 1 of 3 schools in Arizona to be IB authorized for grades 9-12.

  11. The MYP Personal Project • Represents a significant body of work produced over an extended period. • Challenges students to work independently. • Demonstrates the creativity, skills and growth of each student through the IB Middle Years.

Chandler High School’s Personal Projects • Design an American Korean Cookbook • Start an after school jump-rope program at a • local elementary school • Choreography an original dance concert and • have the concert performed by Chandler High • students in the Chandler Center for the Arts • Design a manual for beginning tennis players • Help children create story books then • donate them to Phoenix Children’s Hospital • Design and build a model of an environmentally • sustainable building. • Write an original book of poetry

  13. Students meet monthly with the IBMYP coordinator and the IBMYP Personal Project Manager. Students have an advisor knowledgeable in their project area. Meetings are arranged as needed between the student and advisor. Students display their Personal Projects spring semester for the school and community in the Chandler Center of the Arts.

  15. Once completing the IB Middle Years Program, students can continue into the IB Diploma Program (11th and 12th grade) In 11th and 12th grade students may take IB tests for college credit.

  16. Success Rate • Over $28,000,000.00 in scholarship/grants were offered to our senior class and over $9,000,000.00 wasoffered to our IB graduating seniors! 2013 • 23 students earned an IB Diploma 19 began as MYP students

Study skills? • 73% said IB helped develop writing skills • 60% said IB helped develop study skills • 47% said IB was harder than college and they were ready for college • 35 % said IB helped develop critical and analytical thinking skills • 26% said IB helped develop time management skills

  19. Did you graduate from college? Or if still in college, what was your GPA after 4 semesters? • 65 % of respondents had graduated from college • 71% of respondents had GPA greater than or equal to 3.5

  20. What Next?..... If you think the IB Program the right path for your child… Turn in the Statement of Understanding form by September 27, 2013 (before fall intersession) Give your name and email address to the IB Parent Booster Organization. Freshmen IB meetings will begin in after Fall Break.
