DEPARTAMENTO Ubicación: Se localiza al suroriente, Colombiano Limita con los departamentos de META –GUAVIARE – VAUPÉS – HUILA – CAUCA – PUTUMAYO - AMAZONAS Extensión: 88.9 96 Km2, Relieve: Cordillera Oriental, lo atraviesan los ríos Caquetá, Orteguaza, Caguán y Yari; Serranía de Chibiriquete, piedemonte Amazónico. Altitud:400 msnm. Población: 427.823habitantes División Política:16 municipios. Vías de Comunicación: Aérea: Aeropuerto Gustavo Artúnduga Paredes; Terrestre: 1 Terminal del Trasporte Vías: conexión con los departamentos del Huila, Cauca y Putumayo; Fluvial : entre municipios por los ríos Caquetá, Orteguaza, Caguán principalmente.
