WCE Candidate WEST E Performance Washington Educator Skills Test - E (Endorsement) Fall 2009 through Summer 2010
Current exams are fully aligned to Washington state endorsement competencies • WCE is approved to offer 26 endorsements • Many of our student choose to take one or more exams beyond their primary area(s) of training • Highly qualified • Employability WEST E Exams
In 2009-2010 there were 309 teacher education completers • They earned 404 endorsements, passing 404 WEST E exams • These 404 passing exams include: • 22 exams that were passed on the second try • 11 exams that were passed on the third or more try WEST E Exams
43% of the 2009-2010 completers took two exams • 18% took 3 exams • Frequent second endorsement for elementary grads is reading. • Frequent second endorsement for special ed grads is elementary • Secondary grads often took social studies plus language arts or various science combinations WEST E Exams

Summary • Overall rate of employment as teachers increases over the five-year period until fall of 2008 • Currently our ELEM grads experiencing lower hiring rates than SEC and SPED grads • Fall 08 and fall 09 rate of hiring new teachers falls state-wide…
