Familiarity with basic data sources and research techniques For this template, you will be using ONLY EMSI and LMI Gateway. However, you should be aware of the multitude of data sources you should be using to get a handle on what’s going on with your region’s key industry groups.

Regional Occupational Makeup (Cont.) The last step is to provide the competitive wage intelligence. This is done based on the number of applicants per job opening. You can see that since the number of applicants per job opening is 1.21 for Sales representatives, you’d yellow the 75th and 90th percentiles
Regional Occupational Makeup (Cont.) What you’ve just done here is provide business intelligence about supply/demand in various occupations and show how this might affect where the wage offer would fall. In order to obtain the ‘available applicants’ you need to be in partnership with your workforce center, because this data comes directly from your statewide workforce development data base. In Colorado this database is called Connecting Colorado. This is one of our most popular data products. Businesses, economic developers and site selectors have found the information of great value.
Site Selection Reports The audience for site selection reports includes: Economic developers Site selectors, real estate developers or others helping business clients make a location decision Business prospects who are working the site selectors Constant elements of a site selection report include: Background Competitive Labor Force Regional Economy Concentration Map and Table Sector Employment Breakdown Industry Growth Projections Competitive Wage Analysis Directions on using Competitive Wage Analysis Top Companies in Region Optional elements include any other inquiries. In the case of the sample, this includes age bands, entrepreneurial activity and a narrative about staffing cost savings from using workforce centers
