  6. Refocus • not meant to be a punishment • only a time to reflect on what you did that caused a problem for your teacher and the class • time to take responsibility for your behavior and come up with a plan to avoid or correct the behavior in the future • sit quietly in the back of the room and fill out the form • rejoin the class as soon as you are ready to do things appropriately • signal teacher, & waiting quietly until the teacher comes to check answers on the REFOCUS form

  7. Announcements/Class Calls • Voice off • Stop working • Hands and feet still • Raise hand to ask questions when announcements are over

  8. Asking for Help • Stay in your seat • Raise hand 3. Wait quietly for teacher - Ask a neighbor, while waiting 4. Use a low voice

  9. Written Assignments • Assignment is completed legibly and neatly in pencil or blue/black pen • Do written work on your table; not keyboard tray • Write your name and period on the paper • Place papers face up and in same direction in blue basket when directed

  10. Audience Behavior • Voice off • Sit straight with your feet down – not on the seat in front • Eyes on speaker • Keep hands and feet to self • Applaud using 2 hands for approximately 5-10 seconds when appropriate

  11. Entering the Gym • Walk in a straight line • Hands and feet to self • Take seat quickly in teacher designated area • Sit up straight, back against seat back • Sit quietly

  12. Voice off • Leave seat quickly • Hands and feet to self • Walk in a straight line • Wait quietly against wall beside door for teacher before entering classroom. Exiting the Gym

  13. Bus Holding • Stay in seats and work quietly or help teacher. • No one leaves to go to school store. • To go to another teacher, that teacher must have written a pass in the planner. • When bus is called, walk directly to the bus.

  14. Cell Phone Use • Powered Off and out of sight between 8:15 AM & 3:15 PM • After 3:15 PM, used for communicating only (calls and texting only).

  15. Distributing Materials • Whisper voice • Stay seated • Take only one and pass the rest down your row

  16. Emergency (Fire)Drills • Line up immediately at classroom door. • When the teacher directs you, go out the front door (by GTT), line up on the front side walk, and wait for the teacher. MAP • Walk quickly in single file line behind the teacher. • Go to the left side of the track and line up as directed by the teacher. • When returning, wait quietly against wall beside door for teacher before entering classroom.

  17. Guest Speaker • Look at teacher for direction • Eyes on speaker’s face • Voice off • Pencils down; stop working • Raise hand to ask questions • Thank speaker

  18. Rest Room • If possible, wait until class change. • If an emergency, raise hand for teacher and have planner ready • Leave planner at your table • Sign out on clip board and take teacher pass • Open and close door quietly when leaving/entering classroom • Carry pass so that it is visible to others • Return to class without disrupting

  19. Hall Pass (not RR) • Quietly raise hand and wait for teacher • Ask to leave the classroom using “Please” • After approved, fill in planner and wait for signature. • Sign out on clip board by door. • Open and close door quietly when leaving/entering classroom • Carry pass in hand visible to others • Return to class without disrupting

  20. Maintaining Your Area • Keep class text/handouts on copy stand • Keep other materials/personal items under your own table • Keep water bottle closed on floor • Throw trash away at the end of class

  21. Beginning Class • Be in class before the bell rings. • If door is closed before the bell rings, do not enter – stand against wall, voice off & wait for door to open • Once you walk through the door, do not leave until end of class (or with a pass). • Check the white board for EQ and instructions. • Write EQ in planner in appropriate space and put planner away.

  22. Notebooks/Folders • Running list for notebook/folder checks will be on the web site • Add items when instructed to do so by teacher • Items should be organized in the same order as Running List

  23. Sharpen Pencil • Pencils will be needed in class for quizzes and note-taking • Sharpen before class begins or raise hand for permission • Sharpen in less than 1 minute

  24. Sitting at Table • Place all 4 feet of chair/desk on floor • Feet facing forward, on floor. • Your bottom on chair bottom • Face forward • Hands above desk within your personal space • Use the keyboard tray only when using the keyboard

  25. Computer Start-Up • Log on with YOUR username & password • Wait for screen prompts • Check class web site, particularly the running list • Begin other bell work as listed on board

  26. Working On Computers • Sit in assigned seats • Use correct programs for assignment • Report technical problems immediately • Work only in student designated areas • Follow GCS Computer Use Policy • Print only when directed, but do NOT go to printer. (Teacher will collect print-outs.)

  28. End-Of-Class • Save work in student directory in correct folder • Log off(6th period shut down) computer with start button • Close book (Keyboarding) • Stay in assigned seat until dismissed • Push in keyboard tray & chair quietly as you leave • Put any handouts back in the box on the table

  29. Brainstorming • One person at a time may speak. • Do not interrupt. • Be respectful of others ideas. • There are no bad ideas. • Consensus is the end result • Consensus = majority agreement; group can live with decision

  30. Tardy to Class • Voice off • Move directly to seat • Quietly join in task or begin assignment • Hand tardy pass/planner to teacher • Report to teacher after class to get missing work

  31. Substitute Teacher 1. All procedures and school rules should be followed 2. Follow directions the first time given • Use “Please”, “Thank you”, and “Excuse me” • Be helpful and honest about classroom routines & rules • Voice off; whisper when given permission • Complete all class assignments

  32. Tissue • If necessary, you can get up for a tissue, one at a time, at teacher’s desk. • You do not have to raise your hand and ask for permission. • You should not get up more than once/class. • Please help conserve. If you can donate a box, it would be greatly appreciated. • Trash can is by tissue table. • Get hand sanitizer before returning to table.

  33. Hand Sanitizer • Can be used at the beginning of class, as you walk in • Can be used at the end of class, as you leave. • Should be used after using a tissue. • Please help conserve. If you can donate a bottle, it would be greatly appreciated.

  34. Keyboard Covers • Orange keyboard covers will be used to keep eyes off keys. • Get a keyboard cover from the basket on the table as you enter class. • At the end of class, return the keyboard cover to the basket.

  35. Side walk hall Stop at corner of sidewalk. Line up and wait for Ms. Hart before proceeding. hall Ms. Hart’s room BACK

  36. Full Lockdown • Sit on the floor behind your chair. • Keep hands and feet to yourself. • Keep voices OFF. • Non-compliance (not cooperating) will result in a referral.
