The Guay Gazette October 2013 Volume 2 Classroom News… • Next week we will attend a fire prevention program on Monday. • School Picture Day – Thursday October 17th. • We will begin to compare and contrast urban, rural, and suburban communities next week in social studies. We will also discuss goods and services in communities. • Please check your child’s homework each night. Literacy Math • Next week we will do an in-depth study of nonfiction text features. Our nonfiction read alouds will center around bats. • In reader’s workshop we will learn how to take information we read and categorize it. • In writer’s workshop we will write for a curious audience as we continue with oru informational pieces. • Next week in math we will work on repeated addition, repeated addition with arrays, and even and odd numbers. • If you have not returned your child’s signed Chapter 1 Math Test, please do so ASAP. • Continue to practice math facts daily. Alternate between addition and subtraction. Or combine addition and subtraction by using the same fact families.
