  4. Athlete of Year1969 Major League Baseball sensation, Harmon Clayton Killebrew was born June 29,1936 , in Payette, Idaho. Harmon Killebrew made his Major League Baseball debut on June 23, 1954 for the Washington Senators. Killebrew is currently playing for Minnesota Twins as a first baseman, third baseman and left fielder. After rupturing his left medial hamstring last year and enduring seven months of rehabilitation, Harmon Killebrew bounced back. This year was by far his best year in the majors. Harmon Killebrew set a career- high of seven runs batted in ( RBI ) in one game against the Oakland Athletics on September 7. Killebrew hit a three-run homerun and a grand slam to achieve the seven runs. Also this season Killebrew set a career high in runs, walks and on-base percentage. He has tied his career high of forty nine homeruns and Killebrew achieved eight of his nineteen stolen bases. Harmon Killebrew has achieved the Most Valuable Player Award.
