  2. Opening Prayer Dear God, We thank you for creating this beautiful world and for St Michaels Catholic School within it. We are so diverse, yet each one of us is precious in your eyes and you have faith in us. All our gifts and talents and all that we achieve in life, comes from you. May we always use what you have given us wisely and fairly so that we can really shine both at school and in the wider world. We may face issues and problems in life, but we are never alone when we invite you in. We humbly ask you to help grow our spirits, plant the seeds of faith in our hearts and water them with traits of love, so that our St Michael’s community will bloom, achieving your glory. AMEN

St Michael’s is always striving to be a better school • St. Michael’s continues to be an improving school. • GCSE Results improved by 12% in the last 3 years. • Many of our subjects performed above the national attainment levels. • Our Progress 8 score is 0.34 • St Michael’s pupils work hard, and are rewarded with good outcomes.

Post 16 Education • Government legislation requires that all young people stay in education until they are 18. • Students are not required to stay in school; 6thForm Colleges and apprenticeships are also an option. • Students can choose where they want to study and what they want to study. • It is now compulsory for students to resit GCSE Maths and English if they do not pass in year 11.

Achievements • Highlights from 2019 results • 91.2% pass rate in all A-levels • 80% A*- C English • 83 % A* - C Art • 83% A*- C Media • 85 % A* - C Equivalent Health and Social and ICT • 100% pass rate in following subjects: Art & Design (including one A*), English Literature (including one A*) History, Media Studies, Health and Social Care, ICT and Philosophy & Ethics, EPQ, Polish.

Next steps • The application process is now open. • Application deadline: Friday 25th January 2019 • We will create the option blocks based on applications submitted by the deadline. • Students will then be interviewed and conditional offers made. • 6th Form Induction day –tbc . • GCSE Results Day – Thursday 22nd August 2019. • Year 12 Enrolment Day – September 2019
