ICT Human Resource Development • Over 8000 ICT literate government officers across 200 government organizations • Over 6000 government officers with Internationally recognized ICT Certification • Over 100 government officers being trained in advanced technical training (RHCT,CCNA etc.,) • Over 300 CIOs across government trained in ICT leadership skills
Information Infrastructure National Communications Backbone Network Project • TRC- ICTA joint partnership • Build a fibre backbone connecting all regions in Sri Lanka in order to lower broadband cost and improve data and internet services • Will be implemented through a PPP on a least cost subsidy • RFPQ process completed – 5 parties shortlisted • RFP to be issued in October 2009 • Award the tender by December 2009
Information Infrastructure • Over 600 Nenasala centres operating around the country • 20 Nenasala centres were funded by Government of India • 20 Nenasala centres to be established in Northern region, funded by Government of India
Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) • Provide project management staff and other stakeholders with Information on whether progress is being made towards achieving desired results • Information generated through M&E – clearer decision making • Future project planning and development- improved when guided by lessons learned from project experience.

Key Highlights Achieving international levels of quality • 42 IT-BPO companies in total are being supported under this grant • Certifications such as CMMi, ISO, COPC are being supported • USD 434,653 committed for grantees • 19 Companies already certified, rest to complete before end of 2009
Key Highlights Developing employees in company specific paths • 131 grants awarded • 1,542 employees have received training • USD 236,533 committed for grantees • Up to 75% of the training cost reimbursed
Key Highlights Industry-wide skill improvement • Sponsored a calendar of training seminars – unavailable locally • Around 800 employees have received training • USD 198,285 committed in total
Key Highlights Building our brand internationally • Sponsored industry attendance at major outsourcing events • USD 342,827 committed for 8 events in major outsourcing markets • Funded advertisements in global outsourcing publications • Over 60 IT-BPO companies have participated in these events
Key Highlights Building IT-BPO career awareness in regional schools • 4 IT-BPO career fairs held in Galle, Matara, Kandy and Kurunegala • 4 more planned to be held in Anuradhapura, Badulla, Ratnapura and Hambantota • USD 238,882 committed for the 8 fairs • Over 30 IT – BPO companies have partnered • Over 10,250 students have participated from the most of rural schools
Key Highlights Certifying a new generation of IT professionals • 987 students benefitted from the eCitizens course • Microsoft, Sun – Java, CISCO, Oracle, Redhat certifications are covered under the second implementation • More than 1,600 Sri Lankans have registered for this certification program • USD 76,000 committed in total • 1,424 have benefited so far
Key Highlights Supporting a new era of research and developmentand helping the nation's most important industries • Both companies and entrepreneurs are supported to encourage innovation • 12 innovative projects and 4 Thrust Industry solutions have been supported under this initiative • USD 422,173 committed in total for these innovations • 7 projects have been completed and the rest to be completed before the end of 2009

Key Highlights - (Mar 08 – Jul 08) • US$ 762,540 (188 grants & scholarships) committed in the last quarter • 22 Grants awarded to companies to pursue Company Quality Certifications ($211,000) • 44 Grants awarded to companies to train their employees and in-house trainers (US$194,048) • 9 Scholarships awarded to individuals to follow short-term overseas courses (US$54,930)
Key Highlights - (Mar 08 – Jul 08) • 9 Grants awarded to companies for ICT Research and Innovation (US$215,000) • 38 individuals from 17 companies trained on Negotiation Skills by Bizpro Management Consultancy • 60 Grants awarded to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to computerize their accounts (US$13,500) • 62 Scholarships for short-term skill enhancement courses pending approval (US$31,000)
Strengthening the skills of Managers (Strategy 2 – Overseas Training for ICT Senior Managers) Deadline: 15 August 2008 • Subsidizes the cost of overseas short-term training (less than three months) for Senior ICT Managers • Lower of US$7,500 or the subsidy amount of the Course fee, Accommodation and Airfare costs (75% for employees from small companies or 60% for employees from medium companies or 50% for employees from large companies)
