  3. Situation We have been informed that the global environment is off balance. All living creatures need to decide if they will live indoors or outdoors for the rest of the year.

  4. Your Choice • Decide where you will live: inside or outside • Use the “T” chart to list the pros or cons of your decision • You have 2 minutes

  5. Where did you decide? • Outdoors • Factors that determined this? • Indoors • Factors that determined this? In or Out???

  6. Truth What should I do? • This is no global off balance • This is a important decision that livestock producers make everyday • There are advantages and disadvantages to both indoor and outdoor production methods

  7. In-class Reading Assignment • “Pork Production Today” • Collect information from this reading and copy it on the worksheet • Use this information to make an important decision on your production method

  8. A Pig’s Life • All phases of a pigs life are spent in one or both of these production systems • Which system would you prefer to live in? • Why?

  11. Exit Slip • Describe the production of hogs in a controlled environment or indoors. • Describe the production of hogs in a pasture or outdoor system.
