The pastor or leader will greet the people

This worship service begins with the pastor or leader greeting the congregation and leading them in the Lord's Prayer. They then continue with songs of praise and the recitation of the Phos Hilaron. The service includes the reading of the Opening Psalm and the Old Testament lesson, followed by the Epistle reading. Finally, the service concludes with the Gradual Psalm.

  1. The pastor or leader will greet the people The Lord be with you. And also with you.

  2. All those gathered stand and everyone says the Lord’s Prayer Our Father, in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. AMEN.

  3. The pastor or leader along with all those gathered, remain standing and say or sing Open our lips, O Lord.And our mouths shall declare Your praise. (2x) O God, make speed to save us.O Lord, make haste to help us. (2x)

  4. The pastor or leader along with all those gathered, remain standing and say or sing Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Let us praise the Lord.The Lord’s Name be praised.

  5. The Phos Hilaron may be said or sung O joyful light, from the pure glory of the eternal heavenly Father, O holy, blessed Jesus Christ.

  6. The Phos Hilaron may be said or sung As we come to the setting of the sun and see the evening light, we praise God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

  7. The Phos Hilaron may be said or sung Worthy are You at all timesto be praised with holy voices,O Son of God, O giver of life,and to be glorified in all the world

  24. The pastor or leader then says or sings the Gradual Psalm appointed for the day Psalm 131:1-3 (NIV) 2  But I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me.

  25. The pastor or leader then says or sings the Gradual Psalm appointed for the day Psalm 131:1-3 (NIV) 3  O Israel, put your hope in the LORD both now and forevermore.

  41. Then the pastor or leader says near with faith, and take this holy sacrament to strengthen and comfort you. But first, let us make a humble confession of our sins to Almighty God.

  42. All those gathered stand and say this General Confession Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, maker of all things, judge of all people, we acknowledge and lament our many sins and the wickedness we have committed time after time, by thought, word and deed against Your divine

  43. All those gathered stand and say this General Confession majesty. We earnestly repent, and are deeply sorry for these our wrongdoings; the memory of them weighs us down, the burden of them is too great for us to bear. Have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us, most merciful Father. For Your Son

  49. The pastor or leader along with all those gathered, remain standing and say or sing Therefore with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven we proclaim Your great and glorious name, for ever praising You and singing
