The Phase-Out of Incandescent Light Bulbs FAWN WASIN ZI (WASHEE ZEE) DENNIS LONGKNIFE, JR DONITA SIOUX SHERRY MEAD
Incandescent Light Bulbs The incandescent light bulb or lamp is a source of electric light that works by incandescence, which is the emission of light caused by heating the filament. They are made in an extremely wide range of sizes, wattages, and voltages.
Compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) A compact fluorescent lamp (CFL), also called compact fluorescent light, energy-saving light, and compact fluorescent tube, is a fluorescent lamp designed to replace an incandescent lamp; some types fit into light fixtures formerly used for incandescent lamps.
CFL, cont… Compared to general-service incandescent lamps giving the same amount of visible light, CFLs use less power (typically one fifth) and have a longer rated life (six to ten times average).
CFL, cont… In most countries, a CFL has a higher purchase price than an incandescent lamp, but can save over five times its purchase price in electricity costs over the lamp's lifetime. Like all fluorescent lamps, CFLs contain mercury, which complicates their disposal. In many countries, governments have established recycling schemes for CFLs and glass.

PHASE – OUT PLAN? The United States and many other Nations have current phase-out plans. The U.S. plan is to phase – out by 2014 The Affiliated Grassland Tribe proposes to phase out incandescent light bulbs by December 2012 The plan to phase-out incandescent bulbs is to reduce energy costs, encourage recycling, and help our communities become more sustainable
