  2. The topic is MUSIC • Narrow the topic to a genre • You choose HIP HOP • What is your opinion (if unsure do research to help you formulate your opinion).

  3. Your opinion - HIP HOP is not offensive and positively influences urban youth. Is it arguable? Would others disagree?

  4. Do the research to find evidence to support your opinion. Hip Hop Research Portal Cornell University Hip Hop Research Guide contains book titles, videos, articles, topics, discussions, links, photos, and polls related to hip hop. Learn more about how Cornell University Library promotes hip hop research, teaching, and study.

  5. What you found. Gives urban youth a chance for artistic expression. It is a form of street poetry.   6. Thesis Statement “Though many people dismiss Hip HOP as offensive, Hip Hop music inspires urban youth to overcome challenges, offers an important opportunity for artistic expression, and allows the artist to articulate the poetry of the street.”
