Where can we save energy? • Student Actions • Turn lights off as you leave an area. • Open curtains and blinds during the day for natural light. • Keep windows and roof lights clean. • Report broken, blackened or flickering lights. • Turn off lights where natural daylight is adequate. Lighting Reduce the energy wasted from lighting being left on. New efficient bulbs and fittings.

Where can we save energy? • Student Actions • Move any objects blocking the heat sources. • Report heating left on in unoccupied areas. • Close curtains and windows at night. • Report any areas that are too warm before opening windows. • Don’t open external doors and windows unnecessarily. Heating and Cooling Reduce heat wasted through heating unoccupied areas. New efficient boilers, improved insulation. Turn down thermostat settings. Reduce heat wasted by overheating areas.

  7. Where can we save energy? Appliances and Equipment Reduce electricity wasted when items are left on or plugged in, but not needed. Upgrade appliance to ‘A rated’ efficient models. • Student Actions • Switch off equipment unless labelled. • Unplug appliances after use. • Turn on equipment only when in use. • Ensure all equipment is completely switched off at the end of every day where possible.

  8. Where can we save energy? Water Reduce the amount of water consumed throughout the organisation and reduce the amount of leakage and wastage of water • Student Actions • Don’t leave taps running • Report leaks and dripping taps • Report if hot water temperatures in taps is excessive
