PSHCE PSHCE : a programme to provide students with a solid grounding in the tools and qualities required to make their own good, ethical decisions and to develop healthy and happy lifestyles Personal : Sex and relationships education, body image Social : Self-esteem and assertiveness, crime and its consequences, conflict resolution, the media Health : Drugs, alcohol and smoking education Citizenship : Britishness,, human rights, prejudice and tolerance Year 7 have a focus on building their own characters and feeding this into their everyday life. Teachers are encouraging students in the following areas: ·Resilience Mindfulness ·Self confidence Skills ·Problem solving Taking risks ·Removing fear of failure Empathy SCH

Class Charts Via email you will be informed of: • Positive behaviours, House-points and Detentions By logging in you can track behaviour, positive and negative across all subjects and over time, it will also show attendance. There is a free App for your mobile so you can keep up to date, or you can use the website. A letter is being sent via email next week giving full instructions. SCH

  16. The report shows students’ attitude to learning in lessons. In order to be more specific, ‘attitude to learning’ is split into three key focus areas: Effort, Behaviour and Homework. Codes O – Outstanding, the highest standards always met. G – Good, standards good much of the time, but occasional inconsistencies leaves room for improvement. I – Inconsistent, Standards are variable, unsatisfactory as often as satisfactory. This adversely affects progress. U - Unsatisfactory – standards are very inconsistent and often unacceptable. Homework at Sandhurst School • Homework at Sandhurst School has been designed to help support and consolidate the learning that goes on in the classroom. • Each department has written their own bespoke homework policy that specifies the following: • The different types of tasks that are set • The approximate amount of time they will take to complete • How frequently homework will be set by the classteacher • Specific details about each homework task will be recorded in the student planners when the task is set. If homework has been set on Google Classroom, this will also be indicated in the student planners. • The homework policies for each department can be found on our website. AD

  24. Help and Advice • Class teacher - Questions about a specific homework task • Tutor - Concerns over how your son/daughter is coping with H/W in general • Mr Dexter - Questions about the H/W system itself, specific concerns • Homework Club -Mon-Thurs, 3:05pm-4:05pm in PC4 AD

The PiXL Edge The PiXL Edge has been designed for schools as a means of accrediting and developing those key personal attributes, that are desired by both employers and higher education establishments. The students will complete different activities that demonstrate the five key attributes listed below: • Leadership • Organisation • Initiative • Resilience • Communication AD

  26. The PiXL Edge The students will be enrolled onto the programme at the apprentice level, once this has been completed the students will automatically move onto the graduate programme. The students will receive an accreditation from PiXL in recognition of their achievements. Students will qualify at three levels: Level 1: PiXL Apprentice (Year 7-8)Level 2: PiXL Graduate (Year 9-11)Level 3: PiXL Master (Year 12-13) The students will be instructed on how to log their achievements online. Parents will also be able to access the PiXL Edge system using their son/daughter’s login and view what progress has been made. Mr Matthew Bell: PiXL Co-ordinator AD

  27. Year 7 visit to Hatfield Woods We are planning to run a 3 day residential visit that is open to all students in Year 7. The students will spend two nights in Hatfield Woods learning new bushcraft and survival skills. They will… • Sleep in tent • Learn how to cook in the wild • Learn about trap making • First Aid • Learn how to start fires • Learn how to use cutting tools safely • Work in teams • Have fun! Most importantly, this visit will: • Promote resilience • Teamwork • Personal toughness • Problem solving • Social skills AD

  28. Year 7 visit to Hatfield Woods It will run in the last week of the summer term, Monday 16th July - Wednesday 18th July 2018. The sessions are run by qualified bushcraft instructors, with Sandhurst School staff in support. All the activites, food and transport are included in the price. The approximate cost of the visit will be £185.00. The letter will be released next week. AD
