21. Better institutional background for CE Node Since September 1st 2007: new „Department of Development Studies“ established at Palacky University (Faculty of Science) where CE Node will be based. Study programme „International Development Studies“ (first of this kind in Central/Eastern Europe) accredited and opened (bachelor´s programme since 2003, master´s programme since 2005, now altogether 150 students; 30 in each year)

22. Mission of the International Development Studies The aim of IDS is to prepare experts for future operation within the developing Czech programme of development cooperation. The graduates will be educated above all in science (geography and regional studies focusing on the developing regions, environment) but also in selected subjects of humanities (development economics, project cycle management etc). Priorities in research area: environment/development issues, sustainable development, future-oriented studies, global issues
