  4. TYPES OF IELTS TEST • Academic Test - This IELTS testis designed for candidates who are seeking admission into different universities abroad for their higher studies. However, experts who are looking to pursue jobs in Europe also see taking this test from time to time. • General Training Test - This test is taken by those candidates who are seeking non-academic entries and for work experience or immigration reasons probably.   5. FORMAT OF THE IELTS IELTS test Singapore is all about testing candidate’s English language proficiency on four different grounds which are reading, writing, listening and speaking. This is why both the IELTS tests are designed with four different sections namely Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking, but they differ in the Reading and Writing Section. It is mandatory to take the Listening, Reading and Writing Tests on the same day, while the Speaking test can be attempted seven days before or after these three tests. LISTENING TEST (40 minutes) The listening test of the IELTS exam is comprised of 40 questions which are split into four sections of increasing competence starting with a monolog or dialogue that acquaints the candidate with the speakers and their environment. Recordings for each section can be heard only once with the questions provided towards the end of it. • READING TEST (60 minutes) The reading test has 40 questions split into 3 sections. The Academic Test comprises 3 long texts in the three sections with questions provided towards the end of each text.   7. WRITING TEST (60 minutes) Writing tasks is one of the challenging sections of theIELTS test in Singapore. This section comprises two different tasks of 150 and 250 words respectively. Task 1 of the Academic test candidate is required to answer the description of the given figure whereas Task 2 requires a report of the presented argument. On the other hand, Task 1 of the general training test requires writing a letter describing the scene at hand or requesting information whereas Task 2 requires writing an essay regarding a viewpoint or based on a given argument. • SPEAKING TEST (11-14 minutes) Speaking test is a face to face oral exam which is split into three different sections. An interview is conducted in the first section where the candidate may be asked to introduce himself along with questions about his hobbies and some general topics. Whereas, the second section provides the candidate with a topic and 1 minute preparation time to speak about it. And, the third section of the IELTS exam Singapore involves a conversation between the candidate and the examiner relating to the topic in the second section.   8. IELTS PERFORMANCE FIGURES Reports have shown that more than three million IELTS tests are taken every year and it's increasing as time passes by. Official IELTS data show that 78% of the candidates take academic tests while 22% is the general training test takers.
