  1. The Great Pyramid • It is the oldest of 7 wonders of the ancient world, and the only one to remain largely intact. • It is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids.

  2. The Colossus of Rhodes • It inspired the French sculptor, Auguste Bratholdi, to make his famous work, the Statue of Liberty. • It is believed that it took 900 camels to transport the pieces of the Colossus from Rhodes to Syria.

  3. The Lighthouse of Alexandria • It is the 7th Wonder. • It was the first that was built for a practical, safety-oriented purpose. • Supposedly, there was originally a statue of Poseidon on the summit of the building.

  4. The Mausoleum at Halicarnassis • Mausoleum was the fifth oldest Wonder. • It was worked on by 2 architects named Satyros and Pythios, and 4 Greek sculptors named Bryaxis, Leochares, Scopas, and Timotheus. • It was as high as a modern 14 story building.

  5. TheTemple of Artemis • It was the third oldest Wonder. • Pilgrims, Merchants, Tourists, Artisans, Peasants and Kings from all over came as visitors to see the splendor and beauty of the Temple; the famous treasure, the Statue of Artemis; to worship and pay homage to Artemis and to add to the overflowing heaps of treasures in the Temple. • This earliest temple supposedly contained a sacred stone, probably fallen from Jupiter.

  6. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon • It is the second oldest of the Wonders. • The well system they used was thefirst and only of itskind in Babylon. • It contained exotic plants and animals, which were imported from all over the world.

  7. The Statue of Zeus • The Statue of Zeus was made of ivory, the robe,hair, armor, sandals and other details were madeof gold, some glass or semi-precious jewels mayhave been on the statue and the throne was made of cedar wood and wasinlayed with ebony, ivory,gold and jewels. • It is the smallest of all the Wonders. • It is the 4th oldest Wonder

  8. tkk • People have only uncovered a small fraction of the total ‘army’. The entire number of soldiers is hypothesized to be around 8,000. That does not include 130 chariots, 530 horses, and 150 cavalry horses. • An old Chinese farmer found the terracotta army on his farm when he tried to dig a well right through them!
