2012 Capital Program Highlights • Invests nearly $609 million in 2012 for projects to repair and rebuild roadways, bridges and interchanges and other capital investments across the 286-mile system. • Begins the first year of the agency’s new $12 billion Move Illinois Capital Program • Preservation of existing system • Preparation for new project construction • Commits to “building green” efforts
Tri-State Tollway (I-294/I-94) Commits more than $168 million for design and construction • Key projects: • I-294/I-57 Interchange • Central Tri-State Resurfacing and Bridge Repair Project • Tri-Level Bridge Project • Pavement restoration • Schedule: • Work begins early spring Balmoral Avenue 95th Street
Tri-Level Bridge Project Rehabilitation and widening of ramp bridges connecting I-90 and I-294 • Project status: • Southbound I-294 to Eastbound I-90 – complete • Northbound I-294 to Westbound I-90 –2012 • Schedule: • Construction begins this spring • Complete by end of year
I-294/I-57 Interchange Project Constructing new, all-electronic interchange to improve access and enhance economic development • Project status: • IDOT began advance work in 2010 • Tollway advance work includes: • Relocation of Dixie Creek • Reconstruction of I-294 bridges over 147th Street • Schedule: • Advance work starts summer 2012 • Phase one completed by end of 2014
Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) Commits more than $98 million for design and construction • Key projects: • Illinois Route 47 Interchange Project • Advance work to prepare for I-90 corridor reconstruction and widening • Schedule: • Interchange work begins late spring • Roadway work begins this summer C&NW Railroad
Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) Planning for a 21st Century Corridor • I-90 Corridor Planning Council coordinating from Rockford to Chicago • Transit value planning study with RTA complete • FHWA grant funding study of design and implementation
Illinois Route 47 Interchange Investing $69 million to complete a full, all-electronic interchange • Key features: • Six new ramps and bridge reconstruction • Green construction initiatives • Local participation • Schedule: • Construction scheduled to begin late spring • New ramps open by end of year
Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) Investing more than $90 million to keep our existing system in good repair • Key projects: • Reconstruct and widen – Illinois Route 56 to Deerpath Road • Resurfacing – Illinois Route 251 to Illinois Route 56 • Schedule: • Construction to begin this spring Peace Road Deerpath Road Annie Glidden Road
Veterans Memorial Tollway (I-355) Investing more than $23 million to keep our existing system in good condition • Key projects: • Roadway rehabilitation • Army Trail Road to North Avenue • Butterfield Road collector-distributor • 75th Street to I-55 • Schedule: • Work to begin this fall Army Trail Road North Avenue Butterfield Road 75th Street
Elgin O’Hare West Bypass Project of national significance to link O’Hare Airport with surrounding communities and businesses and provide opportunity for economic development • Project includes: • Rehabilitate and add two lanes to existing Elgin O’Hare Expressway • Construct Elgin O’Hare extension • Construct south leg • Construct north leg • Schedule: • Begin bridge and roadway design work in 2012
