  2. ActivatorKagan Walk • The teacher will pose a question and play some music. Students will walk around the room and reflect on their answer. When the music stops they will high fives the student closest to them and then share their answer. If both students agree, they will stand face to face. If they disagree they will stand back and back.

Explain how water pollution and the unequal distribution of water impacts irrigation and drinking water. • SS7G7 The student will explain the impact of location, climate, and physical characteristics. Distribution of natural resources and population distribution on Southwest Asia (Middle East). • a. explain how the distribution of oil has affected the development of Southwest Asia (Middle East). • b. Describe how the deserts and rivers of Southwest Asia (Middle East) have affected the population in terms of where people live, the type of work they do, and how they travel.

  5. Essential Question (s) How do cultural and religious divisions affect the development of a region?

  6. Work Period • The student will complete the “create your own Middle East country” performance task in class using resources Social Studies textbook, workbooks. Computer and/or notes and their own creativity. The student will be given a performance task checklist to follow as they move through the steps of creating their own culture.

  7. Closing • Students will use their checklist and rubric to do a self assessment to determine if they have all elements needed for standard mastery. • (5 mins)
