Challenges and goals Why introduce the theme ”Eco-Efficient Economy”? Energy Efficiency under SE Presidency • To highlight the link between energy efficiency and jobs creation (post Lisbon Agenda) • To have a common view in different Council formations (Energy, Environment, Competitiveness) • To seize the opportunities in times of crisis with the aim of making Europe leader in ”Green technology”
Challenges and goals Energy efficiency Energy Efficiency under SE Presidency • Contribute to the “last” 20 in the 20/20/20-target • Show EU leadership in Copenhagen by adopting the “energy efficiency package” on 7 December • Improve security of supply by reducing demand for gas, oil, electricity • Address the challenge of financing of energy efficiency measures (EIB, EBRD, Structural funds, MS initiatives…)
