MMM vols assist with clean-up; we have two buckets, one filled with soapy water, one with rinse water. We also supply plenty of paper towels!
Kids get an ASK or MMM sticker when they leave….as they wander through the event, it’s great advertising!
While one vol works with the kids, the other talks with parents.
A donations jar, brochures, stickers and other information are a crucial part of the project. Sign-up sheets are a must--we’ve added hundreds of people to our data base this way.
Our West Triangle (Durham-Chapel Hill, NC) MMM Chapter has also produced this poster, listing the names of NC children who have died in recent years from gun violence.
Our banner has grown to over 800 feet! It provides a great photo op!
We use our banners at press conferences; we’ve wrapped schools, parks, churches, a community health clinic; and we have plans to wrap our state legislature!
Hands Without Guns is the creation of Marcia Owen, mother of 2 sons, who has worked for many years on gun violence prevention in our community.
Marcia and WT Chapter president Karen Stark have developed the original idea into an effective outreach program throughout North Carolina.
Life is precious. We can make a difference. We can save lives.
