Diamond Nanowires for UV Detection Diamond nanowires are useful for a number of different applications, due to the unique properties of diamond, including wide bandgap and extreme hardness and thermal conductivity. By etching diamond films laterally or vertically, nanowires can be produced in a parallel array or in random positions. After suitable contacts are made, the nanowires can be used as UV sensors, high-speed high-power FETs, field emission sources or other devices. Daniel C.
