Recommendation to VIT By Campus Ministry Committee
The Campus Ministry Committee RECOMMENDS that the Presbytery of Eastern Virginia approve the following Campus Ministry Funding Model for the Old Dominion University Campus Ministry program:
University Presbyterian Ministry Recommended Funding Model • $53,000.00 Total Current Yearly Budget • $ 2,250.00Increase in Mission/Service Line Item • $55,250.00 • $(6,800.00) PEVA Support • $48,450.00 • $(10,000.00) Individual Donors (currently $6,300 pledged) • $(10,000.00) Student Fundraising • $(4,500.00) Concerts (Virginia Beach Amphitheater) • $23,950.00 Additional needed for current budget expenses
Church Funding • It is our hope that several churches join together to support this ministry. • We have currently met with 8 churches and have meetings scheduled with 4 more. • We have gotten a positive response; but we won’t have exact dollar amounts until mid October. • We are asking churches to enter into a 3 year covenant with UPM to insure stability for this ministry; as well as, creating connectional relationships between this ministry, it’s students and our churches.
In addition, we ask that the Old Dominion University Campus Ministry remain under the PEVA umbrella and that PEVA retain the property at 1318 W. 49th Street, Norfolk, VA (currently the Campus Ministry House), and that funding for this ministry be paid through PEVA.
Win-Win Situation For both PEVA and UPM
It is our goal for this funding model to begin January 1, 2013 – alleviating a substantial amount from the PEVA budget for 2013. • PEVA will still have Campus Ministry under it’s umbrella without the financial burden. • UPM will continue to be a healthy, growing ministry while creating connections with our PEVA churches.
