SKILL: Plot & Setting • The plot is a series of events in a story • It’s the beginning, middle, and end • The setting is when and where a story takes place. • To identify the setting, use details in the text and illustrations. • The setting can change in different parts of a story • Knowing the setting helps readers understand why characters act in a certain way, why events and problems happen.
