Part 2: Controlling Text • From the help topic, “Working with Text” • “All text in Adobe InDesign exists inside containers called frames. Like graphics frames, text frames can be moved, resized, and otherwise manipulated. The tool you use to select a text frame determines the kind of changes you can make. Use the type tool (T) to enter or edit text in a frame. Use the selection tool (solid arrow) for general layout tasks such as positioning and sizing the frame. Use the direct-selection tool (empty arrow) to alter the shape of the frame itself.”
Part 2: Methods for placing text • Putting text into cursor • Copy • File > place, then open the document with the text • Pasting text into text frame • Simply paste - you will get a default text frame • Create a text frame with Type tool – then paste into it • Create a text frame with drawing tools– then paste into it • Manipulating text frames…
Part 2: Design Challenge Design Challenge: On a single page, create a series of two or more threaded text frames. Try to create the “wackiest” frames you can.
Part 3: Creating Sample Fact Sheet • Getting started • “Tutorial 2” Available from the class website • Save graphics to desktop • New Skills • Creating new document • Specifying number and width of columns • Skills from previous tutorial • Placing, threading, and formatting text • Placing and formatting images
