NOISE CONTROLS FOR UNDERGROUND MINING

Applying controls to the source, blocking the path, and enclosing the receiver can reduce noise exposure in underground mining. This includes isolating flights from the pan/conveyor, using steel vibration damping material, installing sound absorptive materials, maintaining exhaust systems, and using OEM cabs and barriers.   3. APPLYING CONTROLS TO THE SOURCE (S) BLOCKING THE PATH (S) ENCLOSING THE RECEIVER NOISE EXPOSURE CAN BE REDUCED BY:

  4. FLIGHTS CAN BE ISOLATED FROM PAN / CONVEYOR WEAR STEEL VIBRATION DAMPING MATERIAL

  5. FLIGHTS ARE HELD IN PLACEON THE BOTTOM OF THE PAN WEAR STEEL VIBRATION DAMPING

  6. THE MINED MATERIAL LAYS BETWEEN THE WEAR STRIPS AND FURTHER HELPS TO REDUCE THE SOUND

  7. VENTILATION FANSSHOULD BE KEPT ISOLATED FROM FACE AREA

  8. Fan Silencers Should be Inspected and Cleaned as Necessary

  9. SOUND ABSORPTIVE MATERIALS CAN BE INSTALLED

  10. MUFFLERS CAN BE COVEREDDOORS CAN BE TREATED

  11. EXHAUST SYSTEMS SHOULD BE MAINTAINED
