The annual Vice Chancellors’ retreat in Pune, 2015 focused on transforming Andhra Pradesh into an Education and Knowledge Hub by 2029-30. The vision pillars include Equity, Quality Excellence, and Partnerships to enhance GER, youth employability, and address rural-urban inequity. The mission aims to improve education quality, promote arts and humanities, encourage collaborations, invest in faculty development, and remove regulatory roadblocks.

AP Private Universities Bill - 2015 • The draft bill was placed on APSCHE website as per decision of the AP Cabinet • The aim of the Government of Andhra Pradesh is to: • Enable establishment of model Private Universities that set new benchmarks • Qualitative change in systems of higher education • Encourage Research-based institutions • Achieve higher GER • Attract foreign investments • Lead to economic development and powerful growth engine for Andhra Pradesh

  14. Common Universities Bill - 2015 • An Expert Committee was constituted under A.P. State Council of Higher Education for redrafting the AP Universities Act 1991 • The Committee’s report has been submitted to the AP Government • Focus areas: • Accountability • Performance • Quality Education • Restructuring of existing Education system

IT & Innovation Policy – Entry Point Projects • 13 EPPs were identified for implementation in all state Universities • Covering industry collaboration, mandatory apprenticeship, gap year, wifi campuses, Moocs, smart classrooms, centers of excellence, incubation centers, online exams, social work and so on

Ranking of HE Institutions • A project “Repositioning Andhra University in top 50 in the world”has been initiated by Dept. of HE in Andhra University taking help ofsummer fellow from Economic Development Board of AP • Andhra University has been ranked • 151 in international rankings by QS BRICS • 2nd best State University • 8th overall in India by India Today – Nielson Survey • Roadmap: Preparing ANU, SVU and SPMVV for ranking

EDUGRID(Standardized Portals for AP state Universities) Expected outcomes: • Streamlining of administration to make e-Governance possible • Standardization of Universities websites and for possibility for better brand image of institutions • Availability of student profiles for industries across the state, increasing employability • Local industry linkages for internships and project work • PMU has been constituted to monitor the project • Ed CIL has been requested to give the Time lines for implementation of EDUGRID • Estimated Project Expenditure for 6 Universities – 22 crores • Timeline for completion – 9 months
