Daily Life • MRI serves about 430 4th -6th Grade students • Shared Common Areas with Melissa Middle School, but on different campus schedules
Daily Life • Arrival begins at 7:30a.m. • Students are dropped off by crosswalk in carpool lane • Students proceed to the cafeteria (breakfast is offered) • Students are escorted to their classrooms at 7:50 a.m. • Tardy Bell rings at 7:55 a.m. • Lunch: 11: 00 a.m. (subject to change) • Recess: 11:30 a.m. • Dismissal 3:10 p.m. • Carpool line begins in front of the Competition Gym • Buses pick students up in front of the MRI Building • Walkers/Bike Riders meet at the crosswalk to be escorted across the street
Daily Life • Schedules • 4th Graders rotate between two core teachers: Humanities (Reading, Writing, and Social Studies), & Engineering • Students receive specials daily for a minimum of 45 minutes • Physical Education- 3 times per week • Music- 1 time per week • Art- 1 time per week
Report Cards & Portfolios • Report Cards are sent home through Wednesday Folders each 9 weeks & Progress Reports on the 5th week. • Portfolios are used in all classes to promote student reflection and growth. • Students are graded on the following scale: • A=90-100 • B=80-89 • C=70-79 • F= 69 and Below
Special Programs • The following programs are implemented on our campus for students that are eligible: • Gifted and Talented • English as a Second Language (ESL) • Special Education • Dyslexia • 504
Leadership Opportunities • S.O.A.R- Students Organized to Achieve Results • Spirit Committee • News Committee • School Improvement Committee • Engineering Club • 4H • Rachel’s Challenge • Caught Being a Leader Program • Student Incentive Parties • Cardinal Cash Incentives
Huddle • Time for celebration, recognizing student achievements, and promoting school spirit • Held once per month • S.O.A.R. students help lead • Parents are always welcome to attend • Held in the Multi-Purpose Building Gym
Transition for Students • Campus tour scheduled for Friday, May 30th During Kids Inquiry Confernce • Special Huddle at HME scheduled for Friday, May 2nd at 8:00 am. • Meet the Teacher scheduled for August 21st. Times to be determined. Postcards will be mailed to you this summer with all of this information.

STAAR Testing Next Year • Tested in Reading, Math, & Writing • First Week of April: Writing- 2 Days • End of April-Math & Reading 4 Hour Time Limit unless documented in a 504 plan or Special Education paperwork Lunch in classrooms 11:00 am
4th Grade Field Trip to Ft. Worth • Second Week of May- All Day • The field trip is an interdisciplinary exploration and review of concepts learned in Social Studies, Science, and Math. • Stockyards- learning about the economic foundation of Texas and using mathematical skills in the maze • Ft. Worth Museum of Science and History-reviewing major historical points from Social Studies and reviewing many Science concepts • Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens-hands-on Science exploration • Cici's Pizza
Registration Process • Dates & Location TBD • School Supplies… • Order forms will be sent home week of April 21st • Supply list is also located on the website • Deadline to order through EPI is May 16th • Order forms should be turned into the HME Office • Planners will be purchased in the MRI office during Registration, Meet the Teacher, or First Week of School. The cost is $4.00
