Promoting Excellence in Teaching: WV Careers in Education

Susan T. Rice, Careers in Education Coordinator, FEA State Advisor at West Virginia Department of Education, aims to raise teachers' standards in WV. The goal is to recruit the best educators and retain them in West Virginia. The curriculum focuses on Foundations in Education, Human Growth and Development, Exceptionalities and Diversity, and Educational Psychology and Learning. Field experience includes observation, lesson preparation, and teaching in elementary or middle schools. Leadership opportunities through FEA include local chapters, state meetings, competitive events, career development, and the annual national conference.
