The counselors at San Ramon Valley High School provide personalized guidance to students, helping them achieve success in academic, personal, and post-secondary aspects of their lives. Incoming freshmen can direct questions to their middle school counselors, and parents can email the middle school counselor for referrals if necessary. Important graduation requirements and flexible school start and end times are also highlighted.

  4. CounselorRole The SRVHS counselors assist students in achieving success in all aspects of their lives. Counselors help students throughout high school, providing individual, ongoing guidance on academic, personal, and post-secondary options.

  5. To Access your Counselor • Incoming freshmen should direct questions to their middle school counselors. • Parents are encouraged to email the middle school counselor who will refer to the high school counselor if necessary.

SRVHS Graduation Requirements • English 40 credits • Mathematics 20 credits Must pass Algebra 1 or equivalent • Social Studies 35 credits World Geography (semester) World History I & II US History I & II American Government & Economics • Science 20 credits Life Science 10 credits Physical Science 10 credits • Physical Education 20 credits • Health (semester) 5 credits • Visual or Performing Art • World Language 20 credits • Vocational or Applied Art • Additional Credits 60 credits • Total Credits Needed for Graduation: 220 credits Must have 10 credits in 2 of the 3 areas

FLEXIBLE SCHOOL START AND END TIMES*students must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 classes • What: Students will have the option of: • Standard School Day • Late-Start School Day • Early-Release Day • Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 classes • Students may be enrolled in a maximum of 7 classes (space available/special program) • Students may not be on campus during an unscheduled period • How: Students will choose from the following schedules: A full SRV schedule (5-7 classes): • A – 6 (space available) • A – 5 • A– 4 • 1 – 6 • 2 - 6 If taking a non-district course, your SRV schedule will be: • A – 4 • 1 – 5 • 2 - 6

ACCREDITED ONLINE COURSESAND OFF-CAMPUS CLASSES(non-district courses) What: • Students have the ability to put up to 40 credits of non-SRVUSD coursework on their high school transcripts, including graduation requirements. • Students are limited to 20 credits of outside coursework in one curricular area • A maximum of 20 credits per academic year may be placed onto the SRVUSD transcript How: • Go to srvusd.net→ Personalized Learning tab

AVID What AVID is NOT! • Study hall • Remedial intervention • A place to work on homework • A class to earn an “easy A” * Applications due by March 1st – turn in to Middle School Counselor AVID is a college preparatory elective program that develops: • Strategies for reading, writing, critical thinking, speaking and organization • Effective habits, skills, & behaviors • Readiness for rigorous & advanced placement courses • Emphasis on being eligible for a four-year college! • To read more about AVID check the student tab and Class of 2023 on srvhs.net. Then contact your middle school counselor if you are interested.

  20. Special Education IEP is required for Special Education. • Orientation about high school resource programs will be presented by SRVHS Resource Teachers at middle school campuses in early March. Please contact your current resource teacher for specific times Note: Tutorial class only open to SpEd students

Course Selection for SRVUSD Middle Schools • Course Selection will be done on the Infinite Campus Parent/Student Portal Mar. 1–10th • The High School Course Catalog will be available at www.srvhs.net. Click on Building Bridges or Students : Class of 2023. • Follow the directions on the Campus Online Registration Instructions Sheet (in your packet) • Return the yellow hard copy form to your Middle School Counselor by March 11th Found on the Front page of srvusd.net

  22. Course Selection for students coming from Private and Non-District Schools • You must first enroll with SRVUSD (3 steps) • Go to the www.srvusd.net and click on ENROLLMENT→ENROLL YOUR CHILD. Fill out the new student application online. • Bring required original documentation to the Registrar at SRVHS. (during summer months this step is centralized at John Baldwin Elem.) • You turn in the course selection form to the SRV Registrar. You do not register online.
