Background • Over the past fourteen years, the Cork Pride Festival has grown in attendance, popularity, and success, to become the main regional LGBT Pride event in Ireland, attracting the largest on street attendance after the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, and is now one of the premier fixtures on the annual festival calendar in Ireland. The Cork Pride Festival has established itself from humble beginnings, to become the largest national festival of its type outside of Dublin, and a recognised and respected national brand. • Young and old, gay and straight, bisexual and transgender, from every religious, ethnic and socio economic strata - all are represented equally.

Programme and Profile • Arts exhibitions, theatre performances, independent film screenings, choral performances and musical recitals, a non-denominational religious service, club nights, dining out groups, barbeques, treasure hunts, sports days, dog shows, the enormously successful family fun day in Fitzgerald’s Park, the fabulous Cork Pride Paradeandthe huge Parade after party; all have the common goal of uniting all of our local, regional, national and international communities in a celebration of diversity. • We have slowly but steadily built Cork Pride into a national festival and a brand that has the financial support over150 businesses in Cork which helps to deliver the Cork Pride Festival year on year. The majority of the fundingof the festival we manage to leverage ourselves - by selling these businesses advertising space in the annual Cork Pride Festival magazine, and by offering event sponsorships and corporate Parade entry. • In addition, and in order to help fulfil our Social Responsibilities, the Cork Pride Festival in turn supports many different community organisations such as The LGBT Helpline; LGBT Ireland; The Transgender Equality Network; Belong To; The Sexual Health Centre; The Samaritans; The Cork Gay Project and Linc.

  4. Pride Partnerships Following successful annual sponsorships by a wide range of global corporations and SME’s, we have become cognisant of the benefit of such long term partnerships. The Cork LGBT Pride Festival is currently accepting sponsorship proposals and expressions of interest in appropriate, authentic and relevant strategic partnerships for a range of it’s events; key sponsors of the Cork LGBT Pride Festival will enjoy prominent profiling and exposure to a unique audience demographic across the variety of platforms at their disposal, favourably profiling their brand. The primary and secondary benefits that the Cork Pride Festival generates for the businesses we partner with cannot be underestimated or overstated.

  5. Pride Support The Cork Pride Festival has now taken on a life of its own, and is equal to any Pride Festival worldwide. This has been made possible by a uniquely supportive business community in Cork, whom, aside from the obvious philanthropic attributes associated with supporting such an event, realise the enormous commercial benefits to be gained from being associated with our festival; it is a proven commercial fact that individuals that identify as LGBT are far more much likely to support a brandor business which is seen to support their community. Statistics show that 64% of gay adults actively support companies that specifically market to the LGBT community over competing companies that do not. As such, many advertising campaigns now specifically target this lucrative market which is worth over $3.7 trillion annually.

Pride Benefits Many people travel to Cork for the entire week’s programme of events, but the huge crowds flock to Cork for the main festival events which take place annually over the AugustBank Holiday weekend. Last year over 30,000 people joined us to celebrate; this brings considerable revenue to the city, from an affluent local, regional, national and international demographic, many of whom would not visit Cork at any time. The primary and secondary economic benefits that the festival brings to the entire city of Cork cannot be underestimated or overstated, from increased bed nights, increased restaurant bookings to bars and venues full to capacity.

  8. Why Cork Pride? Cork has always been at the forefront of creating change. It is widely recognised that Cork City Council is one of the most supportive of LGBT issues, historically trailblazing as the first City Council in Ireland to vote for Marriage Equality, which was subsequently replicated throughout the country. Cork City Council was the first City Council to host anofficial launch for a Pride Festival in its City Hall; the first City Council to fly a Pride Rainbow Flag over its City Hall in a show of support for its LGBTcommunity; and the first City Council to light up its City Hall in the rainbowcolours of the Pride Flag during a Pride Festival. The type of intangible - yet highly important effect that this has on how Cork is perceived by visitors and potential investors in Cork is immeasurable, yet very significant; it presents Cork as a cosmopolitan and modern city that has moved with the times, and embraces change, tolerance, inclusivity and diversity.

  9. Cause Related Marketing Significant cultural events such as the Cork LGBT Pride Festival bestow a range of tangible and intangible benefits aside from the obvious economic and touristic generation, and create both an immediate and a slow release marketing impact that will be enjoyed long after the festival engagement has taken place. Engagement will enhance the branding opportunities and ensure a full activation of all potential benefits. With increased success however, comes increased expectation, and whilst we broke even last year, our projected costs suggest that we need to raise an additional €50k to produce this year’s Festival - as such, we hope you might consider engaging with the 2019 Cork LGBT Pride Festival. We are committed to delivering events that are at least as good as last year, and have also programmed additional events that the community and our sponsors have suggested; as we are a not-for-profit community organisation, donations may be rendered cost neutral for tax purposes as a charitable donation.

  10. Pride Partners The Cork Pride Festival has a considerable print, broadcast and social media presence, with a comprehensive strategic marketing strategy in place in the UK and Ireland. Since 2013, we have enjoyed a media partnership with the Irish Examiner and Cork Evening Echo newspaper group; in 2015 we also partnered with Munster’s most listened to radio station, Red FM, both of which have been enormously successful. In 2016, we began our strategic partnership with Winter Pride UK in Londonand San Francisco Pride - a symbiotic partnering as San Francisco and Cork are already twinned as cities; indeed, the Mayor of San Francisco presented Mayor John Buttimer of Cork City with the LGBT Rainbow Flag that has flown over Cork City Hall during recent Cork Pride Festivals.

  11. Pride Ambassadors We have a hugely loyal following, which is increasing organically every year. We have many high profile ambassadors who heighten the festivals profile and promote our brand which include chat show host Graham Norton; Senator David Norris; Director of Amnesty International Colm O Gorman; Politician Jerry Buttimer TD; Sportsmen siblings DonalOg and Connor Cusack; Broadcaster DilWickremasinghe; Dr. LydiaFoy; Chairperson of Marriage Equality Grainne Healy and actress Eilish O Carroll amongst others, and, in keeping with Corks reputation as the City of Welcomes, we enjoy the accolade of not only being the largest Pride Festival in the country outside of Dublin, but also being the friendliest and most inclusive!

Audience and Engagement The Festival brings in approximately 30,000 visitors to Cork City; visitors book hotel rooms, eat out, spend in local retailers and enjoy the cultural and social offerings Cork has to offer, resulting in a significant annual economic influx. Engaging with our hugely popular annual festival also includes promotional advertisements in our magazine and on our social media platforms and website. Last year, we had a reach of 727,633 people on Facebook, with 1,596,342 unique impressions, yielding an average of 9019 impressions per post. Pride and Prejudice The hard work and cohesiveness of the global LGBT community has resulted in monumental achievements over the past 50 years – but there is much work still to do, especially in Russia, the Middle East, Trumps America and most recently in Tanzania, where concerted efforts are being made to insidiously erode the progress that our community has made; this is also an issue closer to home, as assaults against LGBT people in the UK have alarmingly increased by a factor of three since Brexit. The Cork Pride Festival highlights and profiles both the positive and negative – celebrating the progress we have made, whilst highlighting the work that is still left to do.
