Learning Objectives • To understand what is meant by ‘holism’ and ‘reductionism’ in psychology • To know what is meant by ‘levels of explanation’ • To understand different types of reductionism DO NOW: Write your name on the post-it note (in small letters) and then write down whatever knowledge you already have of today’s learning objective, once you are done, decide how close you are to meeting the above objectives and stick your post-it note on the progress arrow

Introduction: 10 minutes • Some of you are completing the cut and stick exercise on the ‘levels of explanation’ • Some of you are completing an alternative activity in order to develop higher level knowledge and understanding of this debate • Reflection: what is meant by ‘different levels of explanation’ support your answer with an example.
