Date • The second battle of Sabine Pass occurred on September 8th, 1863. The battle took place in Jefferson county, Texas.

Description of Battle • In the early morning of September 8th 1863, confederate soldiers sailed to the union controlled fort. With Sharpshooters in the base the union felt they were very much in control. After leaving their two war ships the confederates mowed through the union to take control of the base once more.
Length and Fire Power • The battle lasted about One hour at the most if what some historians say. • The Confederacy had 5000 infantry, 4 gunboats, and 18 transports. • The union had 36 infantry, 6 artillery pieces, and a fort.
How many? • The union had 200 killed or wounded, and many taken prisoner.
