Status of CDB-6Improving the Condition of Global DBs: Low Aspect RatioS. M. Kaye (NSTX-PPPL), M. Valovic (MAST-Culham) • MAST • New facility capability is JET PINI neutral beam • Objective is to extend quasi-stationary ELMy H-modes in power and current • Have achieved ELMy H-modes with PNBI up to 3.2 MW • Have achieved H-modes with Ip up to 1.15 MA, but only ELM-free • ELMy H-modes produced with pellet-fueling
NSTX • Additional ~100 observations from 2006 run provided after Chengdu meeting • Similar conditions to data from 2005 experimental run (ELMy, ELM-free H-modes) • Data contains We, Wi information • NSTX confinement trends different from those at higher aspect ratio • tE ~ BT0.6-0.9 Ip0.4 • Important to provide data in new confinement regimes rather than “more of the same”
Lithium evaporation wall conditioning has provided potentially new confinement regime Data obtained from experiments run ~ 2 weeks ago Reduction in Da Reduction in low-n MHD 40% confinement improvement
